Easwaramma finished her bath; she drank her coffee as usual quite happily and took her seat on the inner verandah. All of a sudden, she cried out. “Swami Swami, Swami,'” thrice. At this, I responded: “Coming, Coming.” Within that period she breathed her last. What greater sign of goodness is needed? She had no need to be served and nursed. Swami will come to the memory at that time only for a very few. The mind will usually seek and stay on some object or the other, some jewellery or valuables. From the ground floor, she called: “Swami! Swami!” I replied, “Coming, Coming,” and she was gone. It was like the elephant Gajendra’s calling and the Lord proceeding to bless it – the two wires achieving connection, the release happening instantaneously! This is the authentic consummation that life must strive for. It is the sign of an ideal, adorable life. Easwaramma beendete ihr Bad, trank wie immer genüsslich ihren Kaffee und nahm auf der inneren Veranda Platz. Plötzlich schrie sie auf. „Swami, Swami, Swami“, dreimal. Daraufhin antwortete ich: „Ich komme, ich komme.“ Innerhalb dieses Zeitraums hauchte sie ihr Leben aus. Welches größere Zeichen von Güte ist nötig? Sie hatte es nicht nötig, bedient und gepflegt zu werden. Swami wird zu dieser Zeit nur für sehr wenige in die Erinnerung kommen. Der Geist sucht und verweilt gewöhnlich bei diesem oder jenem Gegenstand, bei Schmuck oder Wertgegenständen. Vom Erdgeschoss aus rief sie: „Swami! Swami!“ Ich antwortete: „Ich komme, ich komme“, und schon war sie weg. Es war, wie wenn der Elefant Gajendra ruft und der Herr ihn segnet – die beiden Drähte verbinden sich, die Befreiung geschieht augenblicklich! Dies ist die authentische Vollendung, nach der das Leben streben muss. Es ist das Zeichen für ein ideales, anbetungswürdiges Leben. Eine solche Haltung muss aus eigenem Antrieb entstehen und nicht durch irgendeine äußere Kraft.
